Peabody Whitehead Mansion
Welcome
The Peabody Mansion, one of Denver’s most famous stops on the city’s popular ghost tours.
If these walls could talk, they would tell stories of war and advancements in medicine, politics, and force. The walls would tell stories of raucous city nights, jazz clubs, whiskey, and alleged horrific crimes committed in its alley. Some of these stories are verifiable truth. Some of them are legend. Some of them are ghost.
Perhaps the walls do talk
Almost 137 years after its original construction, a renovated version of this storied and historic building is presented to the city of Denver. Currently the property consists of 8 apartment units of various sizes. Each is meticulously trimmed and adorned with stunning glass hardware, intricate chandeliers, colorful tile, and beautiful kitchens. Common spaces include historical artifacts and collections of historic and modern art.
Inovative Renovation
The current owners purchased the mansion on October 31, 2013. Over the next 12 years their innovative team refurbished the mansion with a touch of legend and history woven throughout. Every corner, every turn has been artistically curated. The renovations are creative, functional, and bring an entirely new vision to the property. The renovation team will tell you they preserved only the skeleton of the building. It is now a living, breathing modern version with whispers of its past.

Although there are countless ghost stories and accounts of unsettled spirits residing in this well-known mansion, it is easy to imagine whatever spirits may live here are now finally at peace because somebody has turned their pain and their stories into art.
Maybe the alleged spirits are real, and maybe they are simply ghost stories handed down through many years; we will likely never know. Nevertheless, it is a fascinating thing to ponder. Buildings standing the test of time. Families living in them. Stories told. Mirrors reflecting fancy dresses. Dinners. Dishes clinking. Parties and hardships. Memories of war and blood. Children growing up.
This grand structure now serves a new purpose, but will continue to be filled with the stories of history and lives lived within its walls.
